Children and Youth

Children and Youth

At Church of Our Saviour, young people are an important and cherished part of our community.

We love to have children and teenagers with us during our Sunday morning service & each week there are different activities available for children. We also run fun community events throughout the year.

Please check our Facebook page for the most up-to-date information about Sunday Services & events.

Wiggles

Wiggles is a special group for the youngest members of the community and their parents/carers.

The group runs during term time every Thursday and Friday morning at 10am - 12noon in the church. The children get involved in action songs, bible stories, prayer, craft activities and there is plenty of time for free play! The cost is 50p per session per person (children and adults), which includes refreshments.

We are always looking for new members so if you think Wiggles might be for you and your child/children then come along and give it a go... after all you won't know until you've tried and we'd love to see you!

Children and Youth on Sunday mornings

A month of Sunday morning activites for Children aged 3-11 usually follows a set pattern and looks like this:

1st Sunday - Craft & activities for children (ages 3-11) are available during the main service.

2nd Sunday - Adven†urers (ages 3-11) meet during the service focusing on a particular story from the Bible with themed crafts, fun games, thought-provoking activities, worship, challenges for the week ahead, interactive prayer and more!

3rd Sunday - Activa†e, our lively service is a time for the whole church family to worship together and socialise over breakfast! There is a creative mix of games, activities, prayers and a short talk.

4th Sunday - Childrens & Youth Service for 0-18's in Great Baddow - more information below.

5th Sunday - Craft & activities for children (ages 3-11) are available during the main service.

Under 3's

Under 3's are very welcome to join in with what is happening each Sunday. We only ask that if they come along to Adven†urers, they must have a carer with them in the session. There is also a box of age-appropriate toys and books available each week so that the litte ones have as much fun as we do!

11+

For those aged 11+ we’d love for you to join us in the main service on a Sunday morning - there's a notes sheet available that you may find useful for interesting sermon quotes and doodles.

If you’d like to take part in a church service occasionally, there’s plenty of things you might like to do. From doing a Bible reading, singing or playing in the Worship Band, to joining one of the team - Tech, Stewarding, Refreshments or Adventurers. Please chat to Sophie who can help you figure out what you’d like to do and help you talk to the right person.

Once a month we go along to Great Baddow on a Sunday morning for the joint Children & Youth service (0-18's) and we'd love to see you there! It's a great opportunity to meet other young people your age from other local churches. See further details below.

Children & Youth Service for 0-18's in Great Baddow

On the 4th Sunday of each month, COS, St Paul's, Meadgate and St Mary's band together to run a joint service for all of our combined children & young people at The Parade in Great Baddow.

Parents can drop their child/ren off anytime from 9.30 am ready to begin at 10 am - there are plenty of activities to do and new friends to meet! Parents of shy or younger children are welcome to stay. The service will finish at 11.30am and children can be picked up anytime from then until 12noon.

Each session looks at a Bible passage and has themed (often running around) games, worship (led by our Youth band!), crafts, age-appropriate teaching & discussion, and importantly snacks! It's great fun and is a wonderful opportunity for the children and teenagers of COS to meet other young Christians in the local area.

When your child/ren come along for the first time, we will show you around the building and ask you to fill in a consent form. There is also a toileting policy available for your information and a toileting agreement for carer's of under 5's.

The address is: The Parade, Meadgate Church Centre, 162A Meadgate Avenue, Great Baddow, Chelmsford, CM2 7LJ
