New Wine: United Breaks Out at COS

This year the New Wine United summer conference in Peterborough has been cancelled. BUT, New Wine is going online with United Breaks Out (UBO) bringing us worship, seminars and various live-stream events between Thursday 30 July and Monday 3 August. Join us to worship together with hundreds of churches across the UK.

We'll be watching the New Wine morning and evening worship live-streams, as well as an afternoon seminar in Church of Our Saviour. Or you can watch from the comfort of your own home. We'll also be doing lots of activities - you can join in with us, wherever you are!

Welcome packs

We have adult and children's welcome packs for everyone taking part in the UBO weekend at COS. It contains everything you need to guide you through the conference including the timetable, safety guidance and much more! We'll get goodie bags to everyone who registers for a session at COS. If you're joining in from home, drop us an email and we'll make sure you don't miss out.

Social Distancing in the church building

We love to worship together, and everyone is welcome to join us at Church of Our Saviour as we live stream the main events. Unfortunately we do have a limit on how many people we can safely have in the building. For this reason, it's important that everyone who intends to join us in the church registers before the event. When you've chosen which events you'd like to attend, use the online booking form to tell us you're coming. See details of how to register.

When you join us in the church building, there are a few rules we all need to adhere to for everyone's safety:

  • Face coverings must be worn
  • Use the hand wash provided as you enter the building
  • Keep 2m apart from people who are not within your social bubble
  • No food to be consumed within the building
  • No singing (sorry!)
  • Use the one-way entry and exit route

Join the United Breaks Out WhatsApp group

If you're only joining in for one of the worship sessions or all of them, please become a member of our United Breaks Out WhatsApp group. We can keep everyone updated with latest news and activities, chat about what we've learned and share how God is working over the weekend.

Extra-curricular activities!

New Wine United isn't just about worship and seminars. It's also about being a community. This plays a massive part of the New Wine experience, and usually includes bring and share breakfast, water fights, late-night cinema, pub quizzes and fellowship under the stars with a blanket and glass of your favourite drink and nibbles! We can't do all of these things this year, but we can still be one community in other ways. We'll be running the following activities during the UBO weekend:

Throughout the weekend: New Wine United Bake-Off
Get your apron on and your oven gloves at the ready. Make a 'New Wine United' themed bake of your choice. You could make some lantern cookies, a tent cake or muddy puddle tray-bake. Take a picture and show off your Mary Berry creation! Email it to by Sunday evening so we can announce our Star Baker on Monday morning. Unfortunately we can't taste each entry, so it's all about creativity!

Friday 4pm: Bike ride to Central Park
Meet outside the church at 4pm and take a leisurely ride to Central Park (approx. 15 mins). Grab a well deserved ice cream! It's looking warm, so make sure you have water, sun cream and a hat.

Saturday afternoon: Treasure Hunt at home
This isn't just for kids! Young, old or somewhere inbetween, everyone can join in. We'll be sending out a list of clues and treasure items for you to find in and around your home. Get points for each item found and get prizes for the top scores! Join us on Zoom at 4:30pm to show your treasure and get your points.

Sunday 12:15pm: Picnic on the Green
Bring along your picnic and join us after our morning worship session for a socially distanced lunch on the green.

Sunday afternoon: Litter pick starting on Chelmer Village Green
Let's break out of our church walls and love our community by helping to remove the litter on and around our village green. Collect your litter picking kit (hi-vis vest, gloves, litter picker and rubbish bag) from church anytime between 2:30pm and 4:30pm. Drop by at a time that suits you.

Launch event - Takeaway night

Thursday 30 July is the opening night. Worship starts at 8pm, and we'd love you to join us for a takeaway dinner from 6:30pm onwards. You can grab a cod special from Martellas, order a pizza or even support the Little Edi Foundation by joining in with their charity takeaway night with Skewers in Great Baddow.

You can 'eat-in' at home or 'eat-out' socially distanced on the Village Green. However you're joining in, tell us about it on the WhatsApp chat!

Children and Youth

New Wine has a full and comprehensive children and youth ministry. United Breaks Out is no exception. United Kids (0-11yrs) and Luminosity (11-18yrs) are running sessions, workshops and activities everyday throughout the weekend. Check out the timetable for more details.
